Gia's POV
The room smelled like antiseptic and sorrow.
I couldn't tell which one was suffocating me more. Or maybe it was the guilt that lodged in my throat since the begining of my loss.
After everything, I still lost her. She escaped. Yes emails upon emails was sent out to run their reputation for good. But Jennifer of course won't take it laying down. It was a matter of time before she turned the situation around. She has always been smart. And I lost this time around again. I should have just killed her when I had the chance. But I was too greedy and now I lost my chance. And lost a very important part of my life.
The silence stretched endlessly, broken only by the hum of the machines monitoring my heart. Beep. Beep. Beep.
A sound that reminded me I was still alive and that I was a failure.
It felt like there was a huge hole in me. That needed to be filled.
