I never made it to the dungeons. Rowland had told me the men were still out cold from Freya's spell. There was no point going down there tonight. I couldn't question them, not to talk of punishing them. Tomorrow would be better. It was a game day anyway, a perfect time to make an example out of them.
As we headed back to the main quarters, Rowland asked, "Why do you think Freya exposed herself to Queen Fortuna?"
He had known about Freya since we were kids. There was hardly anything I kept from him. He wasn't just my best friend. He was the only person I truly trusted with everything.
"She did it on purpose," I said, folding my hands behind me. "She wanted to provoke Fortuna. She wanted to put me in a tight spot."
We took the path that led to the ministers' quarters. That was where my uncle stayed with his family. I didn't want to talk too loud.
