Chapter 17 - A Deadly Question — Me or Han Yuyao, Choose One?!

If he remembered correctly, the one who had saved that damn crooked-mouthed Xiao Zhan… wasn't it none other than Fairy Yun Lan, Yun Yun, who originally wasn't supposed to appear until much later in the story?

But why the hell was this old hag showing up so early?

Huang Yu furrowed his brows tightly, a sense of unease creeping into his chest.

In the original storyline, after he'd been abruptly written off by that bastard Xiao Zhan, his younger sister, driven by vengeance, had ended up joining a rival sect — one that opposed Xiao Zhan's faction.

And with the support of that sect, she had almost killed Xiao Zhan and brought the grand finale to an early close.

But just when she was about to land the killing blow, it was this very old hag who suddenly appeared and cut down Huang Yuhan with a single sword strike.

Right now, his sister hadn't even blackened yet, and the final boss had already made an early entrance?

Huang Yu felt like he was about to cough up blood.

Wasn't this like he'd just played a measly three, and the opponent slammed down a pair of jokers?

How the hell was he supposed to play now?

Thinking of the way Yun Yun had whisked away that moron Xiao Zhan, and the final look that idiot threw him…

A terrible premonition swelled in his heart.

"No way."

"This time, once I'm in prison, I'm never coming out — even if it kills me!"

Just as Huang Yu made up his mind to rot in jail for good…

BANG!

The door was kicked open with a loud crash.

Huang Yuhan stormed in, lugging a massive plastic container over half a meter tall.

Not a trace of that helpless "can't even unscrew a bottle cap" act remained.

"Little sis? What are you doing back?"

Staring at the returning Huang Yuhan, Huang Yu was at a complete loss.

He had thought Han Yuyao had already sent her away — but here she was, back again?

"What's in that bucket?"

"Gasoline," she replied, voice steely.

Her petite face was burning with fury and stubbornness. "I'm burning this damn hospital to the ground today, no matter what!"

With that, she marched up to the bedside with the gasoline container in tow.

"Don't worry, bro. I'm breaking you out — right now!"

Huang Yu's eyes widened in disbelief.

What the hell — she's actually serious?!

He just wanted to serve some jail time, not ascend to heaven!

If she actually set this place on fire, that'd be enough for the firing squad — several times over!

Before he could stop her, a flurry of footsteps rang from the hallway — followed by an angry shout:

"Huang Yuhan! Don't you dare!"

Han Yuyao appeared at the doorway, panting heavily, one hand clutching the doorframe as her chest heaved.

She barked at the two officers behind her:

"Guard the door. No one gets in or out unless I say so!"

Then she slammed the door shut, locked it, and turned a cold, sharp gaze toward Huang Yuhan.

"If you really burn this hospital, it won't just be your brother and you — your whole Huang family will be implicated."

Her voice was deadly serious, with no trace of exaggeration.

"But tell me something, Yuhan — how did you even get that giant jug of gasoline in here?"

"You've got a lot of nerve asking that!" Huang Yuhan snapped.

Even Huang Yu chimed in, confused, "Yeah, how did you even bring that in? There were police everywhere outside."

Smuggling something that size in here was practically impossible.

But no sooner had he asked than Han Yuyao turned on him, face darkening:

"If you hadn't corrupted Yuhan, would she be doing something this insane?!"

"She used to be a sweet little girl who read romance novels. Now she's reading military strategy manuals and playing the Thirty-Six Stratagems with me!"

Then she turned back to Huang Yuhan, gaze sharpening once more.

"Let me guess — the brawls outside and that medical malpractice protest in the hospital… You set all that up, didn't you?"

"You just wanted to lure us away."

As the two stared each other down, Huang Yu finally understood — this was classic luring the tiger out of the mountain.

[This violent grizzly cop Han Yuyao really is all brawn and no brains. Can't even handle my little sister.][Still, Yuhan is a real psycho — later on she nearly soloed the entire novel's fate-bound final villain.][Compared to my little sister, I really am a damn waste of space…]

Both women heard Huang Yu's inner thoughts.

Yuhan's eyes sparkled with pride, and her gaze toward Han Yuyao grew even more condescending.

Han Yuyao, on the other hand, looked visibly shaken. Her brief moment of calm had vanished, replaced by boiling fury. Her chest heaved again as she glared at Huang Yu, then refocused on Yuhan.

"Yuhan, don't ruin your future."

"Put the gasoline down and walk away. I'll pretend none of this happened."

Han Yuyao tried her best to soften her tone, forcing down her anger to keep from being driven insane by this pair of siblings.

"Like hell I will! You've got some nerve!"

Yuhan snapped back immediately, her voice filled with righteous rage.

"Don't think I don't know what you're up to!"

"You just want me out of the way so you can be alone with my brother — to cozy up to him and get your foot in the door with our family!"

"Well guess what?! I won't let you get what you want!"

Yuhan's voice cracked as she screamed, a sob rising in her throat. Her tone had turned slightly plaintive, tinged with pain.

"What are you doing?!"

Han Yuyao was completely thrown off by the tirade. Just as she tried to say something, she realized — Yuhan was already unscrewing the cap of the gasoline can.

Her heart dropped.

She moved to stop her — but it was too late.

"If my brother dies, then I'm not living either!"

Yuhan dumped the gasoline over herself without hesitation, dousing herself from head to toe.

Her thin T-shirt immediately turned translucent, the off-white bra underneath clearly visible.

Her skirt clung wetly to her snow-white thighs and shapely rear, outlining a jaw-dropping silhouette.

"I asked around," she said coldly.

"They're sentencing my brother to death for attempted murder. Grandpa's forbidden anyone from stepping in to save him."

"If my brother's going to die, then so am I!"

Tears streamed down her face like a string of broken pearls, and her body trembled with quiet sobs.

Standing just a few steps from Huang Yu's hospital bed, she reached into her pocket — and pulled out a lighter.

Her eyes were filled with steely resolve. One spark, and all three of them would go up in flames.

Huang Yu's mind went blank.

Staring at the lighter in her hand, his voice rose in panic.

"Yuhan, calm down! I swear, I'm going to be fine!"

"Then answer me one question."

Yuhan took two steps back, expression grim and unwavering.

"Okay, okay! I'll answer! Whatever you want!"

Huang Yu agreed immediately — what choice did he have?

One wrong word and all three of them were going up in smoke.

Han Yuyao's body was taut with tension as she stared at the lighter, ready to pounce the moment an opening appeared.

Yuhan's voice rang out, high and clear:

"Between me and Han Yuyao… who do you choose?!"

"…Huh?"

Huang Yu froze.

Of all the questions… he hadn't expected that one.
