Before I could even open my eyes, I could hear the sound of medical equipment beeping softly beside me.
My entire body felt like a bag of bricks, heavy and stiff.
Where am I?
"He's out of danger. I am unsure of how long recovery will be."
Who's talking? Is that Liam?
After a few minutes, I finally had enough energy to open my eyes. I was lying on a less-than-comfortable bed in a small room with white walls. All around me was advanced medical equipment and the smell of antiseptic.
"Christian? Are you awake?" Liam walked over wearing his white doctor's coat and scrubs.
Am I in the hospital? What happened?
"What happened? Why am I here?" I asked before Liam had a chance to speak.
"You...you don't remember? I was hoping to ask you that. The story I was told was that you were in a car accident. Drunk driving," said Liam, lowering his voice.
"Drunk driving?" Never in my life have I been so bold as to drive drunk. This alone told me that something was off.
