"Amamiya, can I experience the power of the Sequence Path?"
After a long pause, Aizawa Sakuya finally asked the question she had been mulling over, aware it might come off as excessive.
"The Sequence Path..."
Ren looked at Aizawa Sakuya in surprise.
"Miss Aizawa, I explained so much about the Sequence Path precisely to warn you. If you have a choice, don't take it. This road is filled with problems. Corruption and losing control are the norm."
"Why would you still want to choose this path?"
To be honest, Aizawa Sakuya had understood what he meant.
The powers sounded alluring, but Ren had also plainly laid out the dangers. The downsides weren't hidden at all, and were clearly serious—enough to make anyone think twice about the whole path.
Why would someone still choose it? The meaning was already clear: Ren had no intention of recommending it.
"I'm just a little curious. Even if the risks are high, you're here, right?"
Aizawa Sakuya spoke lightly, relying on Ren without hesitation. Her carefree tone gave others reason to worry.
"Although I'm glad you remember what I said, I still really don't want you stepping onto this path."
Ren shook his head slightly and tapped the table lightly with his finger.
A puff of white smoke rose above the table and formed words.
"With the help of the Source, I can temporarily grant you a portion of Sequence power in the form of a gift. I currently control several Source materials and can let you experience the power of different Sequences."
"Miss Aizawa, choose one."
Aizawa Sakuya looked at the words formed by the smoke above the table.
Seer, Marauder, apprentice, corpse collector, sleepless, warrior, Spectator, sailor, savant, reader, Bard, and Secrets Supplicant.
There were many paths to choose from, and it left Aizawa Sakuya a little lost.
"Do you have any recommendations?"
"As for recommendations, first eliminate the Secrets Supplicant path. That one tends to attract whispers from higher-sequence beings. Even if you gain power, it's the quickest way to end up insane."
"The warrior path focuses on enhancing physical fitness. Even the low sequences are strong and come with combat techniques. But there's a drawback...."
"Yeah, let's skip warrior."
Aizawa Sakuya declined immediately.
"The sailor's abilities are tied to the sea. The corpse collector, as the name suggests, involves collecting corpses. Not very fitting for a girl."
Aizawa Sakuya nodded in agreement.
"The bard's abilities strengthen oneself and teammates through singing. Their powers are aligned with the Sun, forming a path toward the Sun God. Mid-sequence users can cast various solar-based spells, which are very effective against the dead, vengeful spirits, and evil beings."
"The reader, as the name suggests, walks the path of erudition, aiming for omniscience. It requires a large amount of accumulated knowledge. Their extraordinary abilities revolve around understanding all things."
"As for the Seer, Marauder, and apprentice paths, they're all good, and I personally followed all three. But based on acting compatibility, none of them suit you."
Ren paused, ready to elaborate.
"The Seer path's Sequence 8 is called the Clown, and Sequence 7 is the Magician. The apprentice path's Sequence 8 is the Trickmaster, and Sequence 7 is the Astrologer. Both paths lend themselves to circus-style personas."
…Indeed.
Just hearing the names of the Sequences, it was obvious those paths were suited for circus performances.
The girls present immediately felt that those paths weren't right. It was hard to imagine Aizawa Sakuya putting on clown makeup and performing tricks under a tent just to "act" properly.
Even Aizawa Sakuya herself admitted it wasn't a good match.
"As for the Marauder... as a young lady, stealing from your own family? Sequence 8 is a Swindler. Can you imagine a proper lady becoming a con artist?"
Aizawa Sakuya briefly pictured the scene and her face twitched.
If she wanted money, she could just ask her father or Grandpa. Honestly, the money she might swindle wouldn't even compare to her pocket money.
For the eldest daughter of the Aizawa family to become a fraudster—she'd probably be laughed out of every social circle.
"The sleepless, as the name implies, don't need to sleep at night. Three to four hours of rest in the morning is enough. Sequence 8 is the Midnight Poet, who excels in combat, climbing, and shooting, and can produce different effects by reciting different poems."
"Sequence 7 is Nightmare. They can drag people into dreams and question them directly inside. They can freely enter and exit the dreams of up to 187 sleeping people. It's a solid ability for intelligence gathering and interrogation."
After giving a basic explanation of each path, Ren gave his honest recommendation.
"If you really want to try one, the Spectator, sleepless, reader, and bard paths are all decent options. The others don't really suit you."
Aizawa Sakuya nodded in agreement.
Rather than picking at random, it was better to go with the advice of someone knowledgeable.
Based on what she'd heard, the Spectator path stood out. Even if it wasn't strong in the early stages, its late-stage potential was absurd.
But for the sake of this experience, the Spectator path could wait.
The reader path was too academic. She wasn't the type to bury herself in books. It didn't suit her personality.
The bard's abilities were fine, but it felt like choosing that path would turn her into a stereotypical devout believer. That didn't sit well with her either.
All things considered—based on abilities, experience, and role compatibility—the sleepless path seemed like the best fit.
With that in mind, Aizawa Sakuya made her choice.
"I want to experience the Sleepless."
