Chapter 76 - CHAPTER : 76

Dumbledore woke with a start; adrenaline surging and his nerves jangling with the telltale feel of an enervate. He found himself sitting on Harry's couch. He found that he was frozen in place, unable to move from his seat. Next to him lay the stunned bodies of Hermione Granger and Sirius Black. A furious Harry stood in front of him, his wand pointed at Dumbledore.

"H-Harry..." coughed Dumbledore.

"You - You arrogant son of a bitch," spat Harry. "How dare you? How dare you bring someone to my house? Did I not make myself absolutely clear the last time you were here?"

"Y-You did... but," said Dumbledore, his mind reeling. Why was Harry so angry? He should have been overjoyed to see one of his best friends and his godfather. He should have been thanking Dumbledore for bringing about their reunion. Why-Why was he so angry?

"I thought you would be happy to see them," he said.

"Happy? Happy, about the fact that you not only violated the spirit of the contract and our agreement but you also put me in danger. Happy? Of course, I'm bloody happy. Who wouldn't be happy about the fact that there are no doubt Death-Eaters right know who are puzzling over the fact that Albus Dumbledore has tracked down Sirius Black and Hermione Granger and taken them somewhere. I'm sure you expected me to be ecstatic about the fact that, no doubt there are Death Eaters who are busy digging into both their pasts, desperate to find why the Great Albus Dumbledore has gone to so much trouble to track these people down," shouted Harry.

"I took every precaution," said Dumbledore. "Voldemort is not omnipotent. He will not find out anything about..."

"Oh, yes of course. After all, everyone knows that Voldemort is bloody incompetent. Of course, he's much too stupid to keep tabs on what you're up to. Really, the way he took over Britain just screams ineptness. Doesn't it?" said Harry in a voice that could have stripped the armour off a tank.

"Now, you've not only endangered me, you've also brought Black and Granger to Voldemort's attention. Really, what are you planning to do for an encore - set fire to my house?" asked Harry.

"Black and Granger... Harry - that's your godfather and best friend from school that you're talking about," protested Dumbledore.

Harry glared at Dumbledore - "Neither of whom I've seen for more than ten years now. Didn't you ever stop and think that if I wanted to I could have easily looked them up myself? Did you ever think that I might have had my reasons for never reconnecting with them? For that matter - do you ever think about anything other than yourself?"

"Now, once again, I'm going to have to clean up your mess. It's almost like we're back at school," said Harry before striding out of the room. He came back a few minutes later holding an envelope into which he placed a folded piece of paper and a sheaf of banknotes. He stuck the envelope to Sirius' jacket with a sticking charm and then proceeded to point his wand at Sirius's head.

"You first visited me about two months ago. I don't know how long it took you to track them down and I don't trust you to tell me so I'm just going to assume you managed to find them right away. So - two months it is, Obliviate," said Harry.

Dumbledore's mouth fell open. Harry Potter had just... how... how could the boy have done that to his own Godfather? How? Had Harry gone Dark? No, this could not be happening.

Harry moved to Hermione next. "Obliviate," he cried.

Harry then pulled out a ratty old slipper. "Before you get any ideas, only portkeys made by me will go through my wards. Portus," he said as he turned it into a portkey. He then pulled Hermione's and Sirius's hands together and stuck the slipper to them. "Activate," he said as he tapped the portkey with his wand and just like that, Hermione Granger and Sirius Black disappeared from the couch.

Harry pulled a chair out and sat down in front of a shocked Dumbledore. "The envelope contained instructions to a certain person I know. He won't know who's sent them but he's very discrete and can be trusted to follow instructions to wake them up and arrange for portkeys home for the two of them. Now it's your turn, I hope you haven't done anything too important in the last few months."

"Fawkes," screamed a panicking Dumbledore, fully expecting to be immediately engulfed by warm comforting flames as his phoenix companion transported him away. Absolutely nothing happened to his vast surprise.

Harry looked at his former Headmaster and began to laugh. "Please... did you really think I wouldn't figure out a way to block Phoenix travel? Obviously, I'm not going to tell you how but come on... I'm shocked that you continue to underestimate me so badly."

"Harry... please," pleaded Dumbledore. "You can't wipe my memories. If you do, I will forget that I have found you and I will continue to waste my time searching for you and I... I'm the only one still in Britain who leads the fight against Voldemort. Please... you cannot possibly..."
