The night was as dark as ink, and Emily stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, her fingertips unconsciously rubbing the edge of the glass.
The milk in the glass had already cooled.
"Not sleeping yet?"
Carlos emerged from the bathroom, drying his hair. His damp hair fell on his smooth forehead, adding a touch of allure.
"Just thinking about some things."
Emily replied softly, still hesitating about the DNA test.
"Company matters?"
Carlos asked, sounding a bit tired.
Emily turned around, examining Carlos under the warm glow of the bedside lamp. Carlos bore more resemblance to Mrs. Carter and didn't look much like Evan Palmer.
"No, it's not about the company."
Emily hesitated, her fingers unconsciously twisting together, "It's... about a friend."
She suddenly missed the days when she and Carlos would chat over the phone, back then she was Blue Sky, and he was Time, chatting about anything and everything.
