I jolted upright, eyes still squeezed shut as a splitting headache throbbed through my skull. "Fuuuuck!" I groaned, clutching my head with both hands.

"Fucking Azazel," I muttered, wincing. "Next time—ow—tell me it's the strong stuff before I chug it."

"Take it easy," a smooth voice cut in. "You had a nasty fall."

I cracked my eyes open, blinking against the light, and nearly choked. Standing in front of me were two faces I'd know anywhere—Sanji and Zoro, straight out of my favorite anime. My brain short-circuited for a second.

"Thanks," I said, then frowned. "Wait, fall?"

"Yeah," Sanji said, lighting a cigarette with a flick of his lighter. "You tumbled off a cliff—about a hundred feet up. How the hell are you still breathing?"

"Hold up," I mumbled, rubbing my temples. "Gimme a sec to piece this together."

"Take your time," Sanji said, exhaling a plume of smoke. "I'm Sanji, by the way. And this oaf here's Zoro."

Zoro glared at him, hand twitching toward his swords. "You wanna say that again, cook?"

Sanji shot him a look. "Hey, dumbass, keep it down. He's got a hangover." He turned back to me, eyeing me curiously. "Speaking of which—why's a kid like you drunk off his ass in the woods?"

Zoro shrugged, smirking. "Probably just rebelling. Kids do that."

"Nah," I said, leaning back against a tree. "A friend of mine needed a drinking buddy, and I'm the idiot who said yes."

Sanji raised an eyebrow. "What town you from, anyway?"

"Kuoh," I answered, still trying to shake the fog from my head.

Zoro let out a low whistle. "Damn, kid. You made it pretty far. I'm impressed."

"Huh?" I blinked at him. "What do you mean?"

Sanji sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're forty miles from Kuoh, genius."

My jaw dropped, eyes bugging out like Luffy spotting a buffet. "Forty miles?!"

Sanji smirked at my reaction, then sobered up. "Alright, level with us. You're asking about the supernatural—you clearly know something. I can tell you're strong, and so's this mosshead. But what's your deal?"

Zoro nodded. "Yeah. We're stray hunters—track down rogues from the factions. People keep trying to recruit us into their peerages, but we've got a rule: they gotta pass the test."

"Test?" I asked, curiosity piqued.

"Simple," Sanji said, taking a drag. "You want us in your peerage, you take us both—and you've gotta beat us in a fight."

"Hmm." I leaned forward, focusing, and muttered, "Observe." Their stats flickered into view.

Sanji squinted at me, suspicious. "Wait—are you a devil?"

"Nope," I said, grinning.

"Fallen angel?" Zoro guessed.

"Nope."

"Angel, then?" Sanji pressed.

"Nope."

Sanji frowned, crossing his arms. "Then how do you know about the supernatural?"

I leaned back, letting the grin stretch wider. "Oh, I'm a dragon."

Their faces were pure gold—Zoro's jaw hit the dirt, and Sanji's cigarette nearly fell out of his mouth.

"No way you're a dragon!" Zoro sputtered, staring like I'd grown wings on the spot.

"Yep," I said, casual as anything.

"But where's your tail? Your horns? Scales?" Zoro demanded, gesturing wildly.

Sanji smacked his forehead, groaning. "Dumbass, some dragons can disguise themselves as humans. Ever heard of subtlety?"

"Yep," I chimed in, nodding at Sanji. "Wanna see?"

Sanji perked up, intrigued. "Go for it."

I closed my eyes, focusing. My teeth sharpened into fangs, a faint hum of power tingling through me. When I opened my eyes again, they glowed with a fierce, draconic slit—golden and wild.

Sanji leaned back, blowing out a thin stream of smoke. "Well, I'll be damned."

Zoro scratched his head, squinting at me. "Huh. What kind of dragon are you, anyway?"

I grinned, leaning against a tree. "Oh, well, I wasn't always a dragon—so I'm not exactly a 'type.'"

Sanji's brow furrowed. "The hell does that mean?"

"You know about sacred gears, right?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Yeah," Sanji said, nodding. "I've got a few books on 'em."

"They're pretty damn cool," Zoro added, smirking.

"Well, here's the deal," I said. "I've got a dragon sacred gear—one so strong it turned me half-dragon. I'm still human… just not all the way."

Sanji's eyes narrowed, gears turning in his head. "Hmm. Hang on." He darted off, disappearing into the trees, then jogged back a minute later with a battered old book in his hands. He flipped through it, muttering to himself, then stopped dead. "Is it… Indura? The Lightning Dragon God of Chaos?"

"Bingo," I said, flashing a grin.

Zoro's jaw dropped, his usual cool-guy vibe crumbling. Sanji just stared, cigarette dangling from his lips.

"Shit," Sanji finally said, shaking his head. "How old are you, kid?"

"Fifteen," I replied, casual as anything.

Zoro let out a low whistle. "Man, never thought I'd meet someone like you."

"I am pretty awesome," I said with a laugh. "So, how about it? Wanna join my peerage?"

Sanji blinked, confused. "Wait, I thought you said you weren't a devil?"

"I'm not," I explained. "I won my own set of evil pieces—took 'em off a prick named Riser after I killed him."

Zoro's face lit up with recognition. "Oh, that asshole! He'd swing by every now and then, begging us to join his peerage."

"Yeah, total creep," Sanji muttered, flicking ash off his cigarette.

"Well, he's dead now," I said, shrugging. "So, you in?"

Zoro cracked his knuckles, grinning. "You gotta beat us first."

"Bring it on," I said, already hyped.

We stepped out into a clearing in the woods, the air crisp and quiet. Zoro swapped his real blades for wooden swords, gripping them tight, while Sanji plopped into a chair off to the side, looking relaxed but alert.

"Uh…" I glanced between them, confused.

"He fights different," Zoro said, nodding at Sanji. "Don't worry about it."

"Gotcha," I replied. "Sanji, you call it?"
