Chapter 53 - The Lonut games (Part 3)

Ardeval further opens his mouth to bite into Henry's face. Over half of Henry's body has become numb. With everything he has left in him, he tries to move his left arm; his willpower hasn't gone yet, but nothing helps.

Henry's eyes then slightly light up blue, and his body slowly lights up in blue energy, but then a purple lightning bolt hits Ardeval to the side.

Henry: "Jack! I thought I lost you."

Jack, who slowly gets to Henry, with steam coming out of his wound, reaches his hand out to Henry.

Jack: "It's a poison; his weapons and teeth are soaked with it."

Jack gets interrupted by Ardeval, who quickly flies into Jack, taking him and flying upwards.

Jack then grows wings again, punching Ardeval in his face and pushing him away, creating separation between them.

Ardeval's mask, which Jack hit, breaks from his face, revealing a monstrous bat-like face.

Jack: "What happened to your face?"

Ardeval: "What was necessary was to survive."

He speaks, shooting another energy beam from his eyes at Jack.

Jack blocks it with his dragon-scale-covered arm. Ardeval then appears behind Jack, pulling out a sword from his mouth and swinging it at Jack. Jack creates a blade out of his arm; he counters Ardeval's attacks. Ardeval then makes one more swing, which Jack blocks and counterattacks, stabbing Ardeval in his chest, but that was what Ardeval wanted.

Ardeval's arm turns into that of a bat-monster, long and thin but with sharp claws. He stabs Jack in his stomach before throwing him down.

Jack hits the ground, and next to him are the rails. In the distance, a train moves at high speed, and around the rails is a barrier that, if you are trapped, you cannot escape.

Jack quickly jumps off the rails, but the barrier closes, trapping one of his wings.

He quickly cut off his wing and escaped the barrier.

He then notices how his wing evaporates before the train goes past.

Probably so that the train won't hit anything if it's on the rails—what a brutal but effective safety measure, he thinks.

Ardeval nosedives into Jack, grabbing Jack's head and smashing it into the barrier before it disappears.

Jack's wounds have already healed, so he turns his legs into those of a dragon, pushing him off the ground into the air.

He quickly grows his second wing back, and he flaps his wings in Ardeval's direction, creating a wind attack that pushes Ardeval away.

Ardeval then shoots another energy beam, which Jack evades. Ardeval quickly flies back into the air, attacking Jack again with his sword.

Henry watches it from the ground and notices how slowly the numbness disappears.

He had seen everything of the fight and had come up with an idea to defeat Ardeval.

He watches as the next train closely comes nearby and stands up, running in Jack and Ardeval's direction. He jumps into the air, using Shooting Star to turn into an energy blast and quickly appear ten meters further up before again using it to create a chain of light, before appearing behind Ardeval, covering his arm with his blue energy, and punching him down into the rails.

Ardeval quickly tries to get up but is hit by a wind-clap by Jack. Then the barriers of the rails activate, trapping Ardeval inside.

Ardeval screams in anger, punching against the barrier, but it is no use; nothing will break the barrier. Slowly, Ardeval's skin burns down by an extreme heat before his whole body turns into hot dust, which is then hit by the fast-moving train.

Jack slowly lands, dropping Henry off.

Jack: "I never thought I would kill a beast user."

Henry: "I never thought that it would be possible to do that."

Jack: "What's more important is Emilia and Manu; we have to move quickly."

In the arena, the crowd boos at the screen. Lonut then becomes angrier when one of the producers tells him that Brute and Scythe not only failed to get the stone but died trying.

Lonut: "This… the Baron will not be pleased with this."

Producer: "Someone has to tell him."

Lonut: "This will be your doing."

The producer, struck with fear, nods and gets on his way to Adelin to tell him the bad news.

Manu: "Anytime now, Emilia, the game master is distracted."

Emilia: "Shut it, I'm almost…"

The handcuffs of Manu open; at the same time, Emilia dissolves to fog, reappearing outside of the cage without her handcuffs, opening the cage just like she opened Manu's handcuffs.

Another producer quickly goes to Lonut, informing him of the breakout of Emilia and Manu.

Lonut: "Are you serious? Evacuate the arena and hold them off; it's that simple!"

A siren sound and red light appear everywhere, making the crowd go crazy. Everyone runs towards the emergency exits. Meanwhile, Manu holds onto Emilia's hand so that she can fly them both up to the podium of Lonut.

Lonut then hides behind a pillar, hoping that they won't notice him, but they do.

Manu: "Where is the Border-baron!"

He shouts in Lonut's direction, but Lonut doesn't answer, hoping that they aren't talking to him.

Emilia: "Bro, we literally can see you; the pillar isn't that big."

Lonut then walks out of hiding with his hands up.

Manu: "Tell us where the Border-baron is!"

Lonut: "If you mean Baron Dravencourt, he is in his castle this way."

He says, pointing towards a long hallway.

Emilia: "I will pursue from up, and you will confront him directly."

Manu nods before running at high speed towards the hallway.

Lonut: "Idiots, Baron Dravencourt even has a plan for emergencies like these."

Lonut laughs like a maniac would before running away.

Manu enters the hallway, but he then notices how the hallway starts to move.

Manu: "This isn't good."

The hallway rolls downwards, throwing Manu off his feet. Manu stands up, getting back to his feet. Before him is another door, which he opens, revealing a large labyrinth.

Manu: "What the fuck? Why has he a labyrinth under his castle?"

Manu shakes his head, running at super speed to find the right entrance to Baron Dravencourt's castle.

Emilia flies up into the sky, slightly over the castle of the Baron. In the distance she notices Jack, holding Henry and flying towards them.

She waves at them before quickly getting shot down by a turret on top of Dravencourt's castle.

Other turrets activate, shooting in Emilia and Jack's direction.

Jack: "We have to land."

Henry: "You land, and I can go past them."

Jack then lets go of Henry midair. He then uses his new Shooting Star technique to bypass the turrets.

He then crashes into the castle's glass ceiling, landing inside.

Henry looks around, noticing the different sculptures of the same person and drawings of fights.

Adelin: "Beautiful, aren't they?"

Henry turns in the direction from which the voice came.

On a big throne sits Adelin, holding the dead producer by his neck before throwing him to the side.
