At the city entrance, now devoid of people since the gate had long been open and everyone had entered, Kent stood with his arms crossed over his chest, looking down the road that trailed far into the distance.
The guards stood in front of the gate, watching the human who had been standing there for the past five minutes.
"You don't think the king threw him out... after all, he was escorted in and taken to the king's palace," one of the guards asked, watching Kent's back.
"I don't think he was thrown out. I mean, if the king wanted him out, wouldn't the royal guards escort him?"
"That makes sense. But then, if the king didn't throw him out, why is he standing there like a beggar?"
The guards speculated about many things as the watch held back. They didn't understand why someone who had just antagonized the Elves would be standing outside as if he were waiting for his death.
"CLOSE THE DOORS AND SOUND THE ALARMS!"
