the officials commanding the battle fell silent for a while when they realized the situation differed slightly from their initial expectations.
They had chosen to place the temporary command center farther away, in a safer location.
Then the official proactively contacted his superiors.
He volunteered to resign, allowing a young Major General with actual combat experience, a decent military reputation, and a good background to assume the position of overall commander.
Subsequently, in the meeting room, these people witnessed the final moments transmitted by several squads as they were wiped out.
Watching those members being swallowed by the shadows through their own eyes,
the previous officials were relieved they had proactively stepped down.
