Beneath purgatory and the Netherworld is the Endless Abyss.
It is said that both purgatory and the Netherworld originally had nine layers, which were slowly devoured piece by piece by the beasts from the Endless Abyss, leading to their current state.
These beasts residing in the Endless Abyss have a specific name — devouring beasts.
