Alexander did not disappoint the girl's expectations and went underground, where, with the help of magic, stone blocks were being extracted for construction above. It was quite amusing to see fragile girls carrying granite blocks in their arms. Everything was fine, except that the size of these blocks suggested that they should not be carried by hand at all. Magic allowed for far more fantastic things.
— Are you making a map of the stone extraction for the future? — the triumvir asked Olga, who was supervising the work.
— I am. You know that in the future, this will all be underground floors of the Blood Fortress.
— But I haven't seen any plans.
— They just haven't reached you yet, — the girl waved off the question, — I'll transfer some of the plans from the dwarf city here. The most important things are solving the issues of waterproofing and ventilation. And it will be fabulous.
— If only you spoke through your own mouth, — Alexander whispered, — Alright, show me where you'll need me. I came to help, not to chat.
— You should have said so right away, — Olga glared at the knight, — Now go and carry blocks upstairs. By morning, the wall between towers seven and eight must be completed!
Amazed by the grand plans of the chief foreman, the man did not dispute them but got to work. There wasn't much time left before morning, and as he saw, the wall hadn't even started being laid yet; they were still just hauling construction materials. For the strict Olga, any deviation from her plans was a personal challenge, and the workers could have a very rough time if she was dissatisfied. He had to try to avoid such a fate.
It turned out that the plans were not so grandiose, but quite realistic. Once they had a sufficient number of blocks, the workers, skilled in laying them, quickly built the wall. A stretch of about one hundred meters between the bases of the two towers, six meters high, was erected in just one hour.
— Isn't the wall too thin?
— Well, it's just for the time being. In the future, it will be increased by another three meters in height and two meters in width. You've seen all the plans, — the girl said irritably to the triumvir.
— I didn't delve into the numbers; I mostly looked at the overall appearance.
— Then don't ask stupid questions! And here…
Olga grabbed a dagger and cut her palm. Alexander had no choice but to lick a few drops of blood until the wound healed. Such trust was best not to be disregarded.
— Thank you.
— You're welcome! And have a good day!
— Have a good day, — the triumvir said automatically, then noticed the tone of her voice, — Aren't you going to sleep?
— I still need to reinforce today's excavations and think about the damn ventilation!
The vampire merely shrugged. Of course, stale air, the main problem of underground cities in this world, was a threat to them too, but he saw no point in solving everything immediately.
— You'd better go to sleep.
— And meanwhile, we'll sink underground! Don't teach me how to work; I'm not teaching you how to manage!
Alexander raised both hands in a conciliatory gesture, indicating that he did not intend to continue the argument, and, after a warm goodbye, went to sleep.
Setting aside the financial documents for later, the vampire simply buried his head in the pillow and fell asleep, ignoring even his girlfriend, who was clearly indicating what she wanted to do. The girl was a bit upset by such neglect from her partner, but quickly forgot about it.
For a change, he was not woken up in the middle of the day this time. The knight had managed to wake up, and when the gendarme knocked on his door, he was already up and even felt magnificent. Though the latter was a common state for vampires after they had slept for about five or six hours.
