Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

The air in this place is cold and biting.

And I don't mean how it is a place that always snows. No. This place is full of magic, which causes the air to be colder and more biting than it should be. I am not done because I can feel the origin of the magic in the air and hate it.

It is foul. It smells like corpses, or rather, undead.

It is not strong, and I can ignore it if I am busy, but I will definitely notice the smell when I am not doing anything.

"Are you okay, my lord? Do you need another layer of clothes?"

I turn around and see Melisandre walk toward me with a concerned expression. I smile at her and say.

"I am doing fine, Melisandre. I am just annoyed at the foul smell in the air."

"Ah, the foul magic of the Dark King. I understand, my lord. Sadly, we can only endure it for now. We shall cleanse the land of this foul energy in the future, but for now, we can only endure."

I nod my head and say.

"I understand, Melisandre. It is annoying to smell this foul scent while we work here."

Speaking of working, I look to the side and see the people working the base on top of the one I already made. Just like our new capital city, I make sure the foundation of the base is very durable.

To give the workers a better work-life, I created a massive dome around us to reduce cold wind, and I also put many torches around to release enough heat to make the dome not too cold for the others.

It is still cold, but it is bearable now. We are no longer freezing to death; we only need to be careful not to freeze to death. It sounds the same, but it is very different.

"Then, do you want to start the underground farm, My Lord? I think the underground should be able to block the foul smell."

"That will be for the best."

The two of us walk to the massive tunnel I made to make the foundation, and enter the massive clearing underneath the base. This will be the bread and butter of the people who stay in this base.

Literally! There will also be a cattle farm alongside the regular farm in this underground area. The only thing that he cannot make is a windmill because there is no wind in the underground.

I look around and see all the torches here. I really need to mine more glowstone in the nether. The torches are great, but I prefer the glowstone. I can make a redstone lamp, but creating a system that lets me light them up at once will take time. It is not hard, but somewhat tedious, given how big this place is.

I shake my head and look at Melisandre.

"Melisandre, can you carry the large chest here? The one with all the seeds, saplings, and eggs."

"Of course, my lord."

To get cows here requires me to enter the Minecraft World and then return with a dozen or so cows. They will be the ones to populate this place with cows. However, while waiting for the cooldown to be done, I decided to fill this place with chickens and ducks first.

Yup. I get ducks to grow in Minecraft, and I manage to get a Minecraft Duck for myself to grow.

While Melisandre is picking up the large chest, I take out my diamond hoe and start working on the farm. I till the land, and when I am done, I decide to create an infinite water source in the corner of the room.

I am done just in time to see Melisandre return with the large chest, but she is not coming alone. Coming with her is Duran, the Alchemist Wisdom, who becomes the head of all Alchemists of the Solaris Kingdom.

"My Lord, I bring the large chest. Where do you want me to put it?"

"Just near the entrance."

After she puts the chest down, she walks toward me.

"My Lord, Duran has something he needs to report."

I look at Duran and say.

"What is it, Duran?"

"We manage to create something that requires your attention, Your Highness. It is about the Wildfire, Your Highness."

Ah, right. I told them to experiment with the Wildfire and see if they could create something less volatile. Not only that, but I also want them to work with the engineer to see if they can create a machine that can use the Wildfire as its ammo, or at least use the Wildfire in the machine.

"Very well. Lead the way."

The three of us leave the underground farm and the dome. Duran takes us to the eastern part of the dome, where I create an underground base for the group of Alchemists and Engineers that stay in this place.

However, instead of staying underground, they are now on the ground doing something. Is that a ballista? I look around and also see a bucket full of sickly green liquid. Is that Wildfire? I can feel the magic inside the liquid is reduced and more stable.

The original Wildfire contains magic that is very volatile. It is like seeing a lithium ready to combust at the touch of water. That is what I feel with Wildfire. It just needs a good force to make that concoction react violently.

Now? It is stable, but I can still feel the magic inside of it that is ready to burst violently.

"Is that what you want to show me, Duran?"

I point my finger at the bucket next to the ballista.

"Yes, Your Highness. That is the new version of Wildfire. It is the combination of Wildfire, Potion of Swiftness, and a shaving of Golden Watermelon."

"Oh? How does that work?"

"We found that Potion of Swiftness makes the Wildfire change a bit of its property."

"Oh?"

"Instead of activating when fire touches it, it will activate when it impacts something. That means it will explode if we store it inside a glass bottle and throw it at the wall."

"What about the Glistering Watermelon?"

"We found that the watermelon is a great stabilizer connecting the two ingredients. Without it, the combination will not work entirely. With only Potion of Swiftness, the Wildfire gets too volatile. It will explode in a few seconds, but luckily for us, the effect burns faster than regular Wildfire. It only burns for a minute because of the Potion of Swiftness. Anyway, we need the Golden Watermelon because it stabilizes the concoction and restores the Wildfire's original power, but it does not fully restore the burning duration."

"How long does it last?

"It will burn for ten minutes."

I nod my head and say.

"Right. Let's test it then."

"Right away."

Duran orders the others to test the new weapon, and I watch as they put a glass tube around the head of the ballista bolt. They aim the ballista into the barren land in the distance, where there is nothing that can catch on fire.

After a few seconds, they fire the ballista, and I watch as the bolt flies out. The bolt lands on the ground and explodes after a second. I can see a green plume of smoke rising to the sky and green fire appearing from the explosion.

I smile a little and say.

"Duran, make more of this. We will use this."
