Some things seemed universal, in the universe. Love and hate, but that was normal. So long as there were feelings, there would be fondness and loathing, care and indifference. So long as the outside world could be perceived, sensations could be felt, there would be comfort and discomfort, pleasure, and pain. And so long as living beings kept existing, with many facets, preferences and aversions, virtues might cease to exist, but vices would remain, driven by desires, something that might never die, something that would always be profitable, like now.
The city Jack realized he forgot to find the name of was the most advanced he had ever seen, even if shrouded by a shadowy veil of desire driving the coming and going spaceships traveling through the Path, looked like a mere rendition of what he had always known, only designed differently.
