~Chapter 42🌀🌀🌀~
CASSIE'S POV~
Mr Ken took me back to the room I woke up in earlier.
"Okay Cassie, I'll be leaving you alone for now. Your food is being prepared, you must be hungry by now." He said to me and I kept silent.
He just smiled briefly and said, "Ok then. I'll be on my way but don't worry, I'll be back soon."
Immediately he left, I sat down on the bed that was available in the room. Thinking deeply about everything that just happened.
How could this strange man tell me my own mother murdered my father. That was far from the story I created in my head about my real parents.
And he blames the school for it?
He's definitely crazy cause why attack kids when they were not even born when all that happened.
Perhaps he's lying to me. And there's only one way to truly find out. My powers need to come back.. why would they even block it in the first place? And to think I've just started to get the hang of it.
I wondered if everyone back in the school now know I'm missing. Will they try to rescue me?
Jake. I wonder if he knows as well. Maybe he'll come to rescue me. I doubt it though. Why would he put himself in danger just for me? But he loves dangerous things. Maybe this wouldn't be an exception.
"Gosh. Stop being delusional Cassie. Even if someone is coming, it couldn't possibly be him." I said to myself and let out a heavy breath.
I stood up to look around the room I was kept in. It kind of reminded me of back when I just got here, and found out about this whole world. I was all sorts of scared and confused.
I went by the window to take a look outside.
I saw a few people walking around. They were all in black leather uniforms. But most of them didn't look older than I am.
I leaned forward and half of my body was outside the window with my feet still on the ground.
Even the air around here wasn't as cool and fresh like the one back in school.
Everything about this place seemed dark, old and dirty.
I honestly just want to go back to the school.
"I don't think jumping down there is a very good idea." I heard someone say which made me step back from the window, a little bit startled.
I looked over to see the guy from earlier that untied my hands from those branches and freed my legs.
He must have the earth element.
"I wasn't going to jump." I said to him.
"Really? That's not what it looked like to me..." He said while looking from the window to me.
I remained silent.
"Anyway I came to give you this." He showed me the tray of food he was carrying and I frowned.
I hate that I was hungry....if only I had something to eat before being kidnapped. I wouldn't touch any food they gave me.
"Don't worry, it's not poisoned. I made sure of it." He said to me but I still stood there unmoving.
"Okay." He said and picked up the spoon, he took some of the food and put in his mouth. "Hmm delicious. You should try it. Mmm." He said with his mouth full.
My stomach rumbled.
Why????
"No thank you." I said to him and sat down on the bed.
He looked at me for a while before shrugging. He took a seat and sat down beside my food. He took another mouth full and made sounds while chewing the food.
He kept on staring at me while eating and I made sure not to look at him. I focused on the wall.
"Look, I know you don't trust us or like it here for the matter but we're not the bad guys. We're just fighting for what is right." He said to me.
"What is right? or what you're told is right?" I asked him.
"We're surviving out here thanks to the elders. And yes we do believe in them. Here we're allowed to use our powers freely without judgement and being condemned." He said to me.
What he said made me remember Damon and how he's hiding his ice powers.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah sure." He replied.
"Why do you have extra powers? Why does it happen?" I asked him.
"I don't know. I just have it. You can't really chose whether to have it or not. It just happens." He explained.
"I don't get why everyone sees it as a bad thing. I mean ice is part of water is it not? Then why say ice is the evil version of water, it makes no sense." I say to him.
"That's what your school believes but not here. Here, having extra powers makes you special because we can do some things not every regular element can do." He explained.
"So I'm guessing you have earth element. So what is your extra power?" I asked him.
"How about we do it this way, I'll tell you what my extra power is and in return you'll have something to eat. How's that?" He said to me and smiled.
My stomach rumbled again.
"Fine. Okay." I said and took a chair to sit close to him and the food.
I was very hungry anyways so it wouldn't hurt to eat just a little bit to sustain myself before I escape.
I took a spoon on the tray and took a spoonful of what looked like a thick white soup with smashed potatoes at the side 🍲...I hesitated before putting it in my mouth.
I was suddenly surprised on how tasty it actually was. I took another spoon of it and moaned in satisfaction.
"You were right. This is delicious." I said and smiled then went ahead to eat some more.
I was almost full when I remembered our deal.
"So your turn." I said to him with my mouth still full.
"Right. Okay. So I can turn anything I touch to stone. If I desire it." He said to me and I blinked a few times.
"Really?" I asked him and he nodded.
"Can you reverse it though?" I was curious.
"Maybe. Maybe not. Haven't really tried reversing anything I turned to stone before." He said and bent down to look at his feet.
"Have you ever turned a person to stone before?" I didn't know what made me ask that.
He simply looked at me and smiled. "See? You're done with the food. I knew you were hungry." He replied obviously avoiding my question.
I'm guessing he has done it before. I gulped hard. I'll try not to get on his bad side before he turns me to stone out of anger.
"Can you tell me about your other friends? The ones that were with you yesterday." I asked him.
"I don't really like to gossip about other people." He replied and started placing the empty plates back on the tray.
"We're not gossiping. We're just talking. I wanna know and learn more about you guys." I said to him and smiled briefly.
"Maybe some other time. I should go. I've spent too much time with you already." He said and was about leaving the room.
"Wait!...." I said loudly and he stopped abruptly and turned to me, waiting to hear what I wanted to say.
"Your name. You didn't tell me your name." I said to him and he smiled.
"I'll tell you the next time we meet. It was nice talking to you Cassie." He said and left the room.
I sat back on the bed, looking around the room.
I really want to go back home.
Funny how all of a sudden, I see the school as home now.

SAGE'S POV~🌊🌊🌊
I was really glad I decided to join in on this mission. Even though it hasn't been easy walking for hours without any progress yet.
It was worth it. I got to fight one of those creatures one on one. Well three on one.
But the good thing is, we won.
"Hey, thanks for having our backs back there. Even without using your powers, you still kicked ass." Nick said to me and I was surprised for a bit.
Why is he talking to me?
"I thought you were mute." I said to him and focused back on the road.
"I thought you didn't have a heart." He replied while catching up to walk beside me.
"I don't." I said.
"That's what I used to think but I know now that it isn't true." He said to me and I frowned.
"Stop talking to me and just go back to being mute." I said rudely to him.
"I get it , you know." He said to me.
"Get what?" I asked him.
"Why you're so mean to people. You weren't always this mean." He said to me and that made me pause on my track.
I turned to look at him with my death glare.
"What makes you think you can talk to me? What? You think you know me because of a few hours of walking in silence? Or because we all fought a creature to save our own lives?" I said to him angrily.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you angry." He apologized.
"Don't talk to me and stay the hell away from me." I say to him and moved forward to join Jake and Gia at the front.
"What was that about?" Damon asked me. He was now at my back, walking closely behind.
"What?" I snapped at him.
"I'm just concerned baby sis. Was That guy, Nick, bothering you?" He asked me and I shoot him a death glare as well.
"No he wasn't. Now leave me alone." I said to him.
"Wait! Guys....I hear something." Phoebe said and suddenly I tensed up again.
Not again.
"Oh no. This isn't good. I haven't even recovered from the last fight and now another one!?" Madeline said and paced about.
"It's not the creatures." Phoebe said.
Her saying that made me feel at peace. Thank goodness.
"What is it then?" Damon asked her.
"People. I hear people talking and... laughing." Phoebe said and looked at all of us.
"Ok. Weird. What do you think Jake?" Madeline asked him.
"We must be close to the village. This is where people without any elemental power lives." Jake explained.
"Really? I've never met anyone without elemental powers before. That must be so horrible for them." Madeline said.
"Not necessarily. If anything, I'd say it's peaceful for them." I chimed in.
Madeline just gave me a weird look.
"Gia, can you check if there's something new?" Jake asked her.
"I'm sure it's still this way. We're on the right track." Gia said to him.
"Okay." Jake nodded and continued to move, so did everyone.
We didn't walk for too long till we came out of the woods and was now in the village.
Jake, Cara, Greg and Nick had to put out their fire inorder not to draw too much attention to ourselves.
We saw some old men and women sitting round a fireplace. They were singing and laughing at any slight chance. They didn't seem to be in the right frame of mind.
"What's wrong with them?" I asked Jake.
"They seem to be drunk. They must have had too much wine." He replied and I nodded.
We all moved quietly while observing everyone we saw and passed by.
When we got to an area that was quiet, Gia decided to check again where next we must go.
"I got something." She said and Jake nodded at her and she led the way.
We got in front of a giant gate and Gia stopped. "This is it. Cassie must be inside this gate. I'm sure of it." Gia said and Jake nodded.
"Okay guys. We made it to the first half. Now all we have to do is figure out a way to get inside there, get Cassie and get out safely. Hopefully without being spotted." Jake explained.
"Any suggestions of how exactly we'll be able to get inside THAT?" Cara asked and we all stared at the gigantic gate right in front of us.
"Even our School gate isn't as big as THIS. Who are these people?" Madeline asked and everyone kept silent.
