Chapter 24 - 24

"Wake up Ruudi! "

I woke up, and immediately had to quieten down the nagging of the dragon that made me want to split my head open. " I am not your alarm clock. I don't want to wake you up everyday, that was not something I have to do, and you keep ignoring me even when I try to wake you up..."

Standing up, I saw Rue standing at the side of my bed, in her hands, was a white wooden stake and next to her was gasoline and a lit candle. It looked like she still hadn't learned her lesson. She was frozen, her eyes red with the strain, and her eyebrows furrowed in anger, and will.

"This was why I wanted to wake you up. You can't just_"

Artalis stopped her ranting mid sentence as I opened my mouth impossibly wide and ate the woman's face off. As the sharp teeth faded away to their original flat ones, I licked my lips, making sure not to leave a drop of blood on my face.

Ignoring Rue, who fell like a log to the ground, I got out of my bed, and stretched my arms before opening the curtains that greet another wonderful day.

"Good morning, Artalis, thank you for trying to wake me up, but you know how deep my weekly slumber is. Just screaming is not going to wake me up." With my new physique, I grew tired at a very slow rate. This allowed me to power through an entire week without sleep. But, as a side effect, I would fall into a deep coma like sleep for at least twenty four hours straight by the weeks end.

"I think that girl is bleeding to death." Artalis mentioned, her voice carrying a tone of anxiousness, but I dismissed her . "Don't worry. She's not gonna die. I made sure to only get the surface part, though I might've snagged an eye." I changed to my casual clothes while reassuring Artalis. "She's got some good regeneration going on for her."

Sure enough, as I glanced at the fallen girl, I saw her face already forming. The white skin slowly reappearing over the read muscles. It appeared that I had indeed snagged an eye because in its place a hollow cavity was staring back at me. I could feel fear. And pain radiating from her. .

"Eat it."

"What?" I asked Artalis, confused. Did she not like werewolves or something? "No you moron, I meant try eating emotions."

"You can't eat emotions!" I argued back." How can I eat something that is intangible and doesn't exist in the real world?"

I could feel her deadpan expression through. "So you can sense her emotions, feel them, taste them... but you don't think you can eat them?" Well, when she put it like that, it kinda made sense? Besides, eating emotions isn't the weirdest thing I've seen in fiction, so it could work.

Crouching next to the girl, I placed a finger on her forehead, closed my eyes and started to follow my sense. It was weird, like groping my way through a corridor blindly, with nothing but a sense of smell. There was a door at the end, but it was unlocked, so it opened with the slightest push. And I could see colors. A feast placed in golden platters just waiting for me to devour.

The sensation! Ooh the taste! The sensations I felt before had been a tease compared to the flavour. For the first time since my reincarnation, I ate something that tasted divine.

Aaaahhhh

"Mmmnnnnnn"

I could hear Artalis moaning in ecstasy within my consciousness. She too had been desiring something to satiate her for such a long time and I could feel her satisfaction and fulfilment flooding my system. I began devouring that as well.

The taste! The texture! The flavours! Everything was an explosion of art . I opened my eyes, wobbling as I tried to comprehend the ecstasy that flooded my system. I hobbled my way to the couch before collapsing on it, my mind still floating on the sensory overload. I might just get addicted to this.
