Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - And Then There it was dark

[Author's Note: English is not my first language, feel free to comment on any mistakes.]

Black, black, black, black, darkness, darkness, darkness, silence, silence, nothing, literally nothing, is there anything in this place? Or is this really a place? This might not be a place, and I'm simply trapped in my mind. If this were my mind, would there be something here?

Am I in hell? No, it feels more like some kind of limbo. Will I simply forget who I am and cease to exist? No, I could never forget. What's my name? How the hell did I forget my own name? Isn't that basic? Vital?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Shit, calm down, breathe. Wait, how do you breathe? Shit, I can't feel anything. Calm down, focus. Let's see, my age should be 18? 18, right. Country? I remember. Parents are separated, but they get along. The rest of the family? Okay, okay. It's all a bit blurry. Alright, I'm forgetting things. Maybe I should try to force my brain? Try to remember things consciously. But wait, haven't I thought about this before?

Shit, I'm stuck in a cycle of trying to hold onto my memories, and every time I forget about it. I think, therefore I exist, as someone said. Who said that? Damn it, exercise your memory. Let's see what I remember. Why is my mind, which should be striving to store important things, filled with fictional bullshit? Tentacled monsters can't be real, right? Right?

Have I questioned this before? That's right, in this pile of nothingness, the stimulation from modern entertainment must be more enjoyable. That's probably why memories of the Spider-Man and Puss in Boots movies are clearer in my mind - stronger visual stimulation.

Stop, stop deflecting. I should remember more important things. Forget this shitty fiction. Okay, I have a cat. I don't know how to drive. Did I do Karate? No. Aikido? No. Capoeira, it was fun spinning around endlessly, but that was only in childhood. As I got older, my back started hurting. Did I have a spinal problem at 18? It runs in the family. Damn, I'm going to have problems in the future. Blood pressure issues too, how sad.

Hmm, a green hourglass? It's like two triangles together with opposite bases. Was this created by my mind? It's still there even if I think about something else. Can I click it? No, of course not, I don't even have fingers. But what if I focus, will something happen? A text message opened, damn it, how do I even read it?

[Choose one:]

[Omnitrix V1 - Prototype]

[Omnitrix V2 - Ultimatrix]

[Omnitrix V3 - Omnimatrix]

Omnitrix, Omnitrix, where have I heard that? B, Beatles? Ben 10, that cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network. The Omnitrix was a watch that transformed the old man? No, the boy into monsters? Aliens. But there was also the old man in flowery clothes, was he a plumber? Wait, why do I remember that he was a plumber? Is that relevant? Did he eat the female aliens? But wasn't that a children's series?

Yes, it was a children's series where the protagonist transforms into aliens. It had a few sequels, like "Ben 10: Alien Force," "Ben 10: Ultimate Alien," and "Ben 10: Omniverse." Was there any more? No, just those ones. But why is this screen in front of me? Focusing worked before, let's try it again.

[Choose one:]

[Omnitrix V1 - Prototype: The first functional version of the Omnitrix]

[Omnitrix V2- Ultimatrix: Second version of the Omnitrix, discontinued due to core issues]

[Omnitrix V3 Omnimatrix The latest manufactured version]

Okay, but wasn't that kind of obvious? Except for the part about the core issue in the second version. If I focus more, will it select or provide more information? I'll go with the third version just to be sure.

[Omnitrix V3 - Omnimatrix]

[Features:

Alright, but I'm going to start with the first one.

[Omnitrix V1 - Prototype]

[Features:

[Failures]

Failures, darn it, it really is a prototype.

[Omnitrix V1 - Prototype]

[Features:

- Initial synchronization

- Dependent on Primus connection

- Internal codon current 30

- Scanning (Proximity - Touch)

- Physical silhouette selection mode

- Basic security

- DNA repair mode

- Basic user preservation mode

- Basic anti-hacking

- Experimental adaptability

]

[Failures:

- Experimental core

- Chronic instability

- Structural fragility

]

Next.

[Omnitrix V2 - Ultimatrix]

[Features:

- Primus-dependent connection

- Internal codon current of 60

- Scanning (Proximity - Energy Ray)

- Hologram selection mode

- Weak user preservation mode

- Weak adaptability

- Open for modifications

]

[Failures:

- Stable synchronization

- Extremely stable core

- Chronic instability

- Structural fragility

- Fragile security

- Dysfunctional anti-hacking capabilities

]

Not giving me much confidence, next.

[Omnitrix V3 - Omnimatrix]

[Features:

- High synchronization

- Internal Primus

- Scanning (Long-range)

- Symbol selection mode

- High user preservation mode

- High adaptability

- High anti-hacking capabilities

- High security

]

Okay, if I focus on something, can I obtain a better explanation, synchronization?

[Synchronization: Represented by a percentage from 1% to 100%, it indicates how much the Omnitrix has adapted to the user's DNA usage and its effects.

- Increases energy efficiency.

- Extends the transformation time without risking DNA corruption.

- Enhances the user's adaptation when assuming a new form.

- Enables the use of new functions.

- Upon reaching 100%, the master control is unlocked.

]

Now, what would be this Primus dependency?

[Primus Dependency: Indicates that this version of the Omnitrix lacks the ability to process DNA samples and relies on a connection with the Codon Stream located on the planet Primus.]

Okay, so versions one and two rely on an external location to process DNA, but the first one has more access, allowing it to process DNA to bring an individual to the peak of a species, while the second one can only produce genetic copies. They can store 30 and 60 aliens, respectively, before needing to discard some.

Now, adaptability.

[Adaptability: The Omnitrix analyzes the user's behavior over time and can modify itself to make the user's usage more practical and meet their demands.]

So, the number of samples can increase depending on adaptability? But that shouldn't matter for the third version, which has an internal Primus that can process and store numerous DNA samples, maybe even infinitely?

Version three is the best. Not only is it independent, but it also has no flaws. The only advantage the other versions can offer is that they are easier to modify and unlock new functions. However, I don't think it's worth carrying around a literal bomb like the Ultimatrix.

But wait, why am I even considering choosing one of these options? It's not like this is reality; my mind is playing tricks on me again. But if I were to choose, it would be version 3, the Omnimatrix.

[Thank you for choosing.]

Wait, the message changed again, but it disappeared too quickly. What was written? I'm feeling something strange, what is this noise? Noise? That's my breathing. Wait, I can breathe, could it be that...

"Hello world!"

"YES, FUCK YEAH, I CAN SPEAK FINALLY, GOOOOOOODDDDSSS, I CAN SPEAK, BREATHE, I CAN FEEL, FINALLY!"

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!" "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!" "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!" "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!"

"GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDSSSSS!"

"Oh, the pain."

My throat hurts, darn it. Take it easy, take it easy, breathe, now think, stay calm.

"waah"

"waah"

I'm sorry to hear that you're crying. Take a deep breath, it's finally over, free from that hell. Now, try to calm down.

"waah"

It's understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed. Take a moment to calm down. It seems like you're experiencing some strange sensations and realizing that you're lying on some kind of stone. Try to sit up and become more aware of your body. You might be feeling disoriented, but take your time. It appears that your eyes are closed, and even when you open them, it remains dark.

After some time of crying, you managed to gather some strength to stand up and look around. However, it's still dark. Is this your destiny, always being in darkness? Stay calm, take deep breaths.

"1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23..."

[Author's note: For those who didn't understand, he is counting prime numbers to calm himself down. I took this from Enrico Pucci from JOJO, I thought it would be a nice additional personality trait.]

As you spoke, your voice sounded hoarse from all the screaming. Wait, your voice doesn't sound quite like you remember, but when have your memories ever been reliable? As you continue looking around, your eyes gradually adapt to the darkness, allowing you to see a bit, although not in great detail.

You find yourself in a spacious cave, and you estimate that you're about 5 feet tall. However, the ceiling is still too high for you to reach. There's only one path ahead, so you proceed further into the darkness.

After walking for a few moments, you hear a faint noise.

"ti ti ti ti ti"

That sounds like the flapping of a bat. Damn it, one of those pests is here. Of course, I'm in a cave. I start running a bit to avoid getting any of their waste or urine on me. Running feels a bit strange; I'm clumsy and lacking balance, but it seems like I'm improving quickly.

"TI TI TI TI!"

Damn, this pest is catching up to me. I look in the direction where the sound is coming from.

"AAA!!! What the hell is this?!"

There's a freaking giant bat, the size of me, following me with sharp claws. Stupid, stupid, why did I scream, attracting an animal that follows sound. I keep running without stopping, the adrenaline rushing through my veins giving me an extra boost.

"3, 5, 7, 11, 13..."

I reach a crossroad, right or left? Right. I keep running at full speed without stopping, noticing that I'm not getting tired. My breathing is steady, and I don't feel any pain. I wasn't really that fit before, but now I feel like an Olympic athlete.

Navigating through a dark cave at high speed without any kind of illumination is not the smartest strategy, but I didn't expect to slam into a wall. Feeling a bit dizzy, I try to escape, but the monster is already on my tail.

A claw comes at high speed towards my neck, but in that instant, a green light emerges.
