Ashara Kingdom
I was a princess and a soon-to-be Queen. I had to always show good posture, manners, and everything my parents thought a good Queen ought to be—but I don't want all this.
I think I have a wild beast in me always aiming to go on adventures and be the badass Astrid the 7 kingdoms will know about, but here I am, stuck in a princess gown.
The maid's voice brought me back to reality:
"Your Highness, would you like the silver or gold necklace?"
I just told her to put whatever seemed fitted.
I was walking towards the dining to eat breakfast with my parents when I overheard them saying that they were going to plan an arranged marriage for me.
I decided to pretend and faked a smile saying,
"Good morning, Father and Mother."
Mom was like,
"Oh, Astrid, my sweet cupcake! How was your night?"
I rolled my eyes inwardly, "like as if she cares".
I answered her, "Great, Mother."
Then she told me to sit and eat and started her usual drama:
"You know, as a soon-to-be Queen, you have to have strong allies and that is why we—"
Before my mother could finish her sentence, my father interrupted,
"We have arranged a marriage for you with the king of Cossa Kingdom."
Immediately I heard that name, I don't know what snapped in me, but I knew I said these words:
"Father, with all due respect, I am not going to marry King Jake. We all know he's a womanizer, married up to four wives already. Now you want to make me his fifth? I am not going to. I don't even know him, nor do I love him. And he is old enough to be my father."
My father laughed, and I knew that type of laugh, even though I knew after all my defiance, he would still go on with his plan.
I wanted to try to make him understand, but his reply broke me.
"Do you think I was asking for your permission? I am the king, and you will do whatever I ask you to do, whether you like it or not. And do you think I married for love? Hahahaha, Astrid, my child, you might think this is not the best for you, but it is."
My eyes were soaked with tears, but I managed to say through a shaking voice,
"Yes, Father, you always know the best. But the truth is,you know nothing."
My father was enraged and told the guards to lock me up in my room till the day King Jake would arrive.
"Maybe by then, you will learn some manners."
I looked at my mother.
Tears were in her eyes, and she was shaking.
I smirked at my father as I was being dragged to my room.
I was and never will bethe girl to succumb to anyone.
I'm going to plan my escape.
