Lying in a flower field on the outskirts of Nautilus, she stared up into the sky and reached her hand out towards it.
The Aeon that was once inside her had faded into obscurity as she isolated herself from reality.
Butterflies of all different colors landed all over her hair. The reason she even received the blessing of Ixyli had been severed like the strings of a lyre. The Aeon inside of her was obsolete now. For the last time, she decided to wander in the forest.
As her feet touched the soil lush grass grew from her feet and squirrels followed her as she strolled through the forest. Small birds flew above her following her through the dense vegetation.
After some walking, she found the perfect place to rest. A massive boulder with trees shielding her from the sun. Sekito felt as her life force slowly dissipated from her body.
Humans who are hosts to Aeons do not become sick or age. But the moment an Aeon dies, the human will also succumb in succession. An Aeon can die by either complete annihilation of the host's heart or the host's connection with the Aeon is severed.
As Sekito sat back against the rock with all the animals comforting her. She stared up into the yellow autumn leaves and reminisced about her childhood. She saw the images of Devina smiling and her final smile.
A tear flowed down from Serenity's eyes.
"Hundreds of years ago I couldn't fulfil my promise to you and still I can't fulfil my last promise to you."
She felt how the Aeon of Serenity poured out of her body. The flower blossomed on her cheek illuminating the entire forest.
For a split moment, Sekito was once again walking through the streets of Nautilus alone. The laughter of children and the chatter of adults echoed across the street. It was a typical day for Sekito's. She sat down at the bar and ordered her usual drink. As the drunken Aeon stumbled on the streets under the night sky she couldn't help but remember her oh so loving dear sister.
She had turned rebellious and hidden away for quite some time now and Sekito was starting to miss her. Her antics, her voice, her hair, the Aeon of Serenity's whole reason for living was to protect her sister. She knew that her sister was still somewhere out there and she knew that one day her sister would come back to visit her.
But as for now all she could do was weep. For the sorrow of not having her sister here by her side. Sekito continued to saunter down the street as she saw two sisters walking together.
And suddenly raindrops descended from the skies. Sekito saw how the two sister hurried away protecting their heads from the rain.
Other people started to complain about the horrible weather that had been occurring in Nautilus.
"When is this rainy period gonna end?"
"Ah yikes… There goes my beautiful vacation."
"I forgot an umbrella! Hurry up Emma, you're gonna become soaking wet!"
The little girl stood there for a moment before putting both her hands to her mouth to amplify her voice.
"SERENITY, SERENITY! DON'T CRY!"
Sekito sobered up hearing those words from a little girl. Her sister quickly grabbed her hand and dragged her away before it started to rain heavily.
"For all it's worth your journey has not yet concluded, Sekito."
With a slight tug, she felt how a warm hand snatched hold of her cold wet fingertips and pulled her into the city. Her golden hair danced in the rain and her smile which was so real… made the eyes of Serenity glimmer with joy for that she had made a difference.
Ixyli stood over Sekito's body in the forest staring at the flower of Serenity in her hands. A wilted flower that had its life force blotted out.
All the animals around her were rubbing themselves against Sekito's lifeless body trying to wake her up. But as they tried they realised that her heart had already stopped and she was already dead.
Flowers started to grow from her resting place as Sekito's head tilted.
"Sekito…" She wiped Sekito's tears off her face as she stared off into the distance with rain pouring over her hair.
Ixyli slowly reached out towards Sekito's chest and gently removed her heart from her body and held it in her hand.
With tears pouring down her eyes she proclaimed Sekito to have the world's purest love.
"I'm sorry my daughter, but your job has yet to be completed."
She reintegrated the Aeon of Serenity into her heart, forcing her to bear the burden of Aeon of Serenity once more. Ixyli planted Sekito's heart back into her and forced her soul back into her body before reactivating her heart.
Ixyli's body slowly disintegrated into nothingness as she fused back with Sekito. She would not only sacrifice her ability to ever repossess another host but also the ability to ever manifest ever again. So with this final and most selfish act, Ixyli would sacrifice her life to burden Sekito with the task of guiding the future.
Sekito saw a bright illuminating light ahead of her. She was overjoyed by the thought of spending an eternity with her sister in a place where worry was nonexistent. A place where the future didn't matter, a place where the past wouldn't come to haunt. A place where her sister could be happy.
She reached out her hand towards the light expecting her sister to follow with her. But Devina stood there in the middle of Nautilus. Her hair drenched, her smile brimming with joy and her eyes full of emotion. Sekito told her sister it was time to go but all Devina did was shake her head.
"Sekito… I hope you enjoyed the part you played for the past 4000 years. But the time of execution lies not on you, only I shall bear the burden of your sin."
Devina started to dance in the rain. A traditional dance from Nautilus. It was as if Sekito could hear the lyrics themselves as she watched on. The ripples at Devina's feet made the melody and the rain gave the rhythm.
An elegant and final performance for the ultimate sinner. Devina bowed her head down as her act came to an end and Sekito was pulled into the light.
