Li Xiu and his companions chose the direction opposite to the previous city gate and arrived at another gate.
Before they could get near the gate, they heard ghostly cries faintly drifting to them.
The sound was a mix of sorrow and resentment, like the mournful cries from the netherworld, sending shivers down their spines.
"Could there be female spirits outside?" Chu Jun's eyes lit up.
"There are definitely no female spirits, but there might be female magical creatures. Why, do you have any ideas?" Li Xiu looked at Chu Jun and smiled.
"When I was young, my grandfather often told me stories about female spirits repaying kindness. Hearing so many, I couldn't help but fantasize a bit," Chu Jun said unabashedly, chuckling.
"I always thought only men who weren't very good-looking would have such thoughts. I didn't expect a handsome fellow like you to think so too," Li Xiu laughed.
