Chapter 17 - Cultivating

Idris was hunting for the second day and he had collected 22 rank 1 and 1 rank 2 beast spirit. He had also received the mysterious technique the rank 2 beast had dropped. The monsters he had fought had all been too weak to even get close to Idris. Only beasts of the 2nd rank and higher could injure him.

He decided to go back to the mansion, after slaying his 23 beast. He didn't need any more resources.

He took his spatial back and made his way back to the city. He came by the forest and all the fields and landscapes he had seen when he came ro the mountain range.

He was happy, having all the beast spirits he wanted. His happiness didn't last long though.

As he entered the city it began to rain. He liked rain so he didn't bother go under anything to protect himself from getting wet.

When he came to the mansion, he was surprised. Someone had blown a hole into the back of the house. There was also no one outside.

Idris thought that the servants and their master, marquis Asteria, were all inside, because of the rain.

He opened the gate and crossed the yard. He knocked on the door. Nobody opened. Normally someone would come after a few seconds and open the door, but today nobody came.

Idris had a bad feeling. He pushed the door open and entered. He heard the voices of people in the dining room.

He followed them and they led him to a room, where all the servants sat, their heads down, in a circle. They muttered something.

As one of them saw Idris, he held up his hand and said: "Oh...hello Idris." His tone was grim, just as his eyes.

Idris was shocked and directly asked them worried: "What's wrong? What happened?"

All of the servants looked at him now. Some with pity and some with just a gloomy look on their faces.

The same servant answered hesitantly: "Our master, marquis Asteria,... he...he died."

Idris was shocked, he didn't move. Tears almost began to flow out of his eyes.

He began to act hysterically, running towards the servant and screaming: "No! It can't be! What happened? How did he die?" Many questions ran through his head, but the most important one was how the marquise had died.

"Someone sent an assassin to kill him, but he was defending himself and blew up his room. I found him this morning in front of the stairs, laying on his back with a hole in his chest." The head servant was the one speaking now.

Tears began flowing out of Idris eyes. Marquis Asteria had been so good to him. Why did he have to die too? Was a curse laying on him, that killed everyone he cared about?

Idris turned around and went up into his own room. On the floor were still some blood prints from the fight.

Idris only wanted to cultivate now. He wanted to kill these bastards as fast as he could, take revenge, torment them.

His anger rose with every minute. He went into his own room.

First he had to calm down. It wasn't easy as his blood boiled and his heart beat faster than 120 bpm.

He needed half an hour to calm down, only to drown in rage again right after. He threw things through his room, cracking the walls. The servants that were downstairs heard the hammering and didn't dare to go and look for him.

After another hour Idris had finally calmed down. His room was now almost unrecognizable. Everywhere in the walls were cracks that made it look like the roof would fall down at any moment.

His cold expression remained.

He closed his eyes and began to throw the beast spirits one after the other inside his mouth. His cultivation grew quickly.

After 3 beast spirits, he advanced to the 4th layer Body Tempering Realm. After another 10, he reached the 5th layer Body Tempering Realm.

And after the other 9 rank 1 beast spirits, he was already at the advanced stage of the 5th layer Body Tempering Realm.

He took the last beast spirit into his hand. It was the only rank 2 beast spirit. He could expect it to boost his cultivation greatly. He placed it between his teeth and crushed it. The energy flowed inside him. It was a big amount of mana and he nee0ded to refine it fast or the most of it would vanish.

After he had absorb the orb, he reached the middle stage of the 6th layer Body Tempering Realm.

He felt like a new person after his power up. His skin and organs had become harder. His soul had also connected with his body, letting him control it as if it was a part of his body. It had also strengthened, making it harder for someone to destroy it.

His senses had sharpened by several times and his strength was so great, he could easily kill an adult who was at the advanced stage of the 6th layer.

He next had to learn new skills. He could cast advanced and even some expert ranked spells.

Due to his cultivation, his elemental energies had leveled up too: ice and wind were at the 3rd layer, water and fire at the 2nd layer and earth still at the lowest layer.

There even was another element that had awakened. It was the lightning element, one of the strongest elemental energies that existed. The only two before it were light and darkness, the rarest and also most efficient elements.

Idris wad amazed at what he had learned only through cultivating like this.

He then took out the scroll he had found after accidentally killing the rank 2 beast.

The title "The Superb Necromancer Technique" implicated that it must be strong and that one could revive the death as one of his subordinates. But it had also the darkness element and so he didn't know if he could learn it.

After thinking for a moment he came to the conclusion that it would be better to at least try to learn it.

There were steps as to how to activate the technique written inside the scroll.

Idris used all his mana to follow the description. He had to first sense the darkness around his body, taking it and forming it to a shadow.

After that he needed to also feel the light surrounding him and form a figure.

Light magic was not only able to attack and defend, but it was also good for healing. It was probably the most complex and most important step for learning the technique. If he couldn't revive the death, it wouldn't work.

The shadow that he had formed was for his subordinates to go into. He could place it on all positions on his body and outside of his reach too. He could also split the shadow and place a wanted number of subordinates into it.

After the two steps were done, he needed to form a barrier in his mind with light magic to make sure the ones he revived would really be loyal and couldn't attack him. That process would also be executed on every new formed subordinate.

Suddenly, as he had finished the technique, a window opened in his mind.

[The Superb Necromancer Technique]:

[Shadows: 0]

[Strength: 0]

[Energy: -]

[Cultivation: -]

It looked like the subordinates he gained were counted. They even had strength as a whole, an energy pool and could even cultivate.

But he didn't know what the [ - ] energy meant.

He just had to test it out soon.
