After Zahira left the room, James started gobbling his food down like a ferocious animal. He was still restrained so he could only dig into the food with his mouth.
James didn't know what Zahira was going to try tomorrow but he thought that she couldn't do anything worse than what she had already done. At that time James didn't realize how naive he was being.
"Hey Noah, how do I get my physical strengthening stat to go up faster?" James said while licking his plate, not letting even a crumb go to waste.
"The physical strengthening stat goes up way faster when you engage in fights. The stronger your enemy, the more EXP you will get and the more your stats will increase."
"That's so much work though" James said while sighing, showing the lazy side of his personality.
"Dumbass there's no substitute for hard work" Noah said. After plagiarizing the saying from Thomas Edison who was himself a plagiarizer, Noah continued to give a 30-minute speech about working hard.
James was so bored while listening to Noah ramble on and on that he pulled at his pages, drawing him closer and started reading the different spells he had.
"You pay attention when I am talking to you" Noah said in the same nagging tone James's mother spoke to him when telling him to go and brush his teeth or make his bed. Unlike his mother, he completely ignored Noah.
As he was flipping through the diary's pages, he was interested in the water section's only spell he had unlocked which was 'Water conjuration' which read 'Conjure a small amount of water and control it any way you would like. However, the reach of the spell is only 5 metres' "Interesting, I could undo these chains then."
Late at night, James caste the spell which made about a cup of water appear right in front of his eyes. James started to play around with it, making it into a star, a tree, an apple.
After 'experimenting' with the spell for another minute, James finally made the body of water into a key and unlocked all the chains he was tied up in. "Let's go look around this mansion."
After using the same trick to unlock the door, James sneaked out of the basement and up to the ground floor. He started looked around the giant labyrinth of a house.
While walking around, he suddenly heard someone's discreet footsteps and hid behind the open space underneath a set of stairs leading up to the first floor.
He then used the first shadow spell he had which was 'camouflage' which completely erased the sound of breathing and the smell of the user, concealing his presence.
James peeked out to see who it was and what he saw was a small slender man, wearing all black clothes and a ski mask holding a map of some sort in his hands.
He came to the conclusion that the man was a robber and had a map of the household in his hands. The map of the estate was extremely useful to him. Thinking exactly that, he decided to take action.
James used the water conjuring spell again making water appear in front of him which he controlled to go into the ear of the man and travel down his throat, making him choke and pass out due to lack of oxygen.
He then continued to hid the man's body below the stairs and took his map, examining all the important areas in the mansion he was currently in. The place that caught his eye was the library.
James could find out more information about magic and the history of the continent of Akaira from browsing the contents of the library of the noble Smith family.
"Off to the library then" he said to Noah (No one can hear James when he specifically talks to Noah).
