Chapter 168 - The Reselection IV - The Challengers: Part 3

BOOM! CRACK! SWOOSH! BUZZ!

"Shit! Just what is that girl on... is she trying to kill me?" Sarah wondered before she froze in shock and disbelief as a hand suddenly grasped her shoulder while a needle pricked her throat.

"Give up," Maze whispered into Sarah's ear seductively as she blushed and fell to the ground in defeat.

While her mind went haywire as dirty thoughts swirled in her head, which caused her to envision sexual scenarios instead of ways to improve herself.

But that is beside the point, so let us return to the initial fight at hand between Rin and Isaac…

"Now that is a unique way to end a fight!" The announcer shouted as the crowd screamed Maze's name while others took this moment to understand what had just happened.

"So, do you have any words for your haters, Maze, or even the audience that you would like to share with us?" The announcer said as he handed the first winner of the day a microphone, as the audience quieted down.

"... initially, no. However, I do have something to share, so please listen carefully," Maze smiled as she paused briefly, "Now to those that may hate me... fuck you and be on the lookout for Death is coming. And I just can't wait to add a few more bodies to my kill count, but to those who support me, I love you, and I hope you all have a wonderful day."

She said as half the crowd froze with concern while the other side erupted into praise as they couldn't wait to see what the future had in store.

"Well then, good luck and may your future be bright," The announcer said as Maze handed him the extra mic and walked to the center of the cage to await her next opponent.

"Thank you, and the same to you," Maze replied.

Meanwhile, as Maze completed her mid-fight interview, Rin and Isaac's fight entered the next phase...

"So, would you mind telling me what that earlier outburst was for, as I don't think I said anything crazy?" Rin asked as he evaded Isaac's attack, who continued to pursue after him like a wild dog.

"It's none of your business!" He shouted as he lifted his foot and slammed it into the ground, causing the entire cage to tremble and turn into quicksand.

Simultaneously, as that occurred, humanoid constructs made of sand arose from the earth like mummies awakening from a long slumber.

"Hmm, I guess this is one way to die," I muttered with a sigh as I slowly fell deeper into the quicksand while a horde of sand zombies gradually approached me.

"Is this the end of one of the most highly anticipated matches of the day? Or does Rin have a means to escape this attack and win the match? Only time~"

"Hey, could you shut up and let me cook for a sec!" Rin shouted as he gazed at the announcer with irritation while Isaac just waited for the perfect moment to end this match.

'Just keep playing this helpless act and watch as I send you to the moon,' Isaac smiled as the mummies began to glow with a subtle orangish hue that pulsed like a heart.

The closer they got to Rin, as if a mechanism within them had been activated, causing them to resemble bombs about to go off.

"My bad! I didn't know the otaku was a person who got annoyed by commentary." The announcer laughed as Rin just rolled his eyes.

"Nevertheless, this is my job, so get used to it. Plus, I'd advise that you focus on your situation rather than what I'm doing." He said not giving Rin any time to respond with a snarky comment, who fortunately, realized the danger he was in as he instantly shifted his gaze.

Focusing on what was going on around him, yet it was too late, as all the zombies instantly rushed toward him and exploded one after another like fireworks.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"Fuck," Rin muttered as he didn't have time to evade Isaac's attack, and with him being stuck in quicksand. That didn't make his situation any better, but even worse in some cases.

'Sigh, I guess I may have to get serious after all, or else I'll never hear the end of this from Maze.' Rin thought as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before transforming into a different person.

Just as he was about to be engulfed by the explosion of 10 God-Rank Sand Zombies, who each suddenly froze in place and disintegrated into nothingness as a blackish-red aura began to exude from Rin.

Once he opened his eyes, causing everyone in the arena to stop what they were doing and focus on Rin and Isaac's cage. Just as a prickling sensation spread throughout the entire campus.

That didn't affect only the other matches, but even the weather as the sky turned red and began to rain black snowflakes.

"J... J-Just what is going on?" Someone in the crowd stuttered with a shiver at the ominous weather, along with the chill breeze that swept through the stadium.

"Not quite sure, however, whatever it is, hopefully it'll end soon," Someone replied with unease as they began to feel powerless, as if someone had their life in the palm of their hands.

"I would shut up, if I were you, and just pay attention to the match at hand, as it seems we might just see the true power of Rin Kurama." A woman giggled as death was always a fascinating thing to experience, especially when you were but inches away from its commencement.

"Relax, Francesca, before you blow our cover," A cloaked figure beside the woman whispered with a growl.

"Tsk, why don't you tell that to the bitch who's acting like a whore in heat and grinning like a fool on Christmas." She replied, side-eyeing the demi-human beside them with disgust.

"Aww! Thank you, and here, I thought you were but another object with a nice body," The demi-human smiled as she licked her lips while winking at Francesca, before gazing at her contractor.

"Now, while I won't lie and say that, I'm not turned on by the recent turn of events. Sadly, this is where we must briefly part ways… so, toddles and do tell my mother 'Hi' for me."

She screamed as she took off her cloak and dashed toward Rin and Isaac's cage.
